Here we go again!
Many sensors, a complex system, and no one skillfull enough to program (let alone troubleshoot) the main software properly!

I'm currently getting constant warnings from my stoopid keyless system while riding ("too far", "low battery" (to the point that I did replace the battery to no effect of course), you name it). And my rider heated seat is still a software update to get back to a running state.

I'm getting more and more concerned about such blatant lack of computer competency and its potential effect on our safety...

Don't get me wrong: continuous improvement is a progress, but launching beta-stage products on the market is not!

I work in software development and it's genuinely frightening how much stuff gets to the end users before the QA guys (like me) have had a proper chance to test and sign off on it....  :157:

I only see little problem in this when it comes to consumer/leisure products.
Regarding actual vehicles (and potentially life threatening consequences) on the other hand...

You mean like airliners and nuclear power plants?

It comes with the territory, if users want the latest and greatest suspension, lean angle ABS, traction control etc etc boundaries have to be pushed and issues found. Those that don’t push boundaries die, failure is good and provides feedback. Those that test to the last Nth end up being overtaken by others releasing their product first and early with the “latest and greatest” thing. Keep churning out the same stuff year on year and watch what happens. The British car and motorcycle industry a case in point. Obviously nuclear reactors, space shuttles are a different matter.

You make a very good argument NOT being an early adopter.  :038:

Exactly.
Recent Boeing mistakes do show something about the state of our world.

The Boeing incidents have highlighted another issue: Powerful influential manufacturers convincing authorities that as makers they know better than the regulators and getting the regulations relaxed to suit their new products.
