New Givi Toolbox added
« on: August 25, 2017, 03:02:19 PM »
I'm assuming this is an XC type challenge, so apologies if it's more generic than this, in which case the mods can move it...

In the absence of knowledge to the contrary I went ahead and bought myself the Givi S250 toolbox and mounting kit for my beast. There was not specific kit for the Triumph with the Explorer rack, so I was taking a bit of a flyer. But I did like the look of the box, which mounts inside the pannier rack.

The first pic is off the Givi site, so you can see what I wanted.

I knew I might have a bit of a challenge on the Explorer rack, but nothing like a wee challenge on a rainy summers evening...
The mount was easy enough, no problem there. The problem was two of the mounting braces on the rack, which interfered with the positioning of the box. But with a little ingenuity I managed to reposition the toolbox a little lower and forward by drilling 4 new holes in the mounting bracket and inserting some small spacers between the box and the bracket to position it to suit.

The next few pics show what I mean and the net result.

Not too difficult, but worth sharing for anyone who wondered the same as me...

cheers  :305:

Good job, I'm tempted by one but hope my limited skills would allow me to fit.

It's dead easy. The only tricky part was measuring up the plate to drill four holes.

Just fitted one today to my Givi (PLR6408) Rack - very impressed, fills the gap nicely both in the pannier frame and from the back
