Mpg?
« on: April 16, 2018, 03:07:02 PM »
Interested in what mpg others are getting from their gen2’s.
I’ve just completed an 837 mile trip to the lakes and my mpg average went up to 49 but is now back to 48.8.
That doesn’t seem overly good to me?

That seems pretty good MPG. My Gen 1 only gets just over 40mpg

Don't forget that the UK gallon is larger than the US gallon.

Good point ijinak:

40 miles/ US gallon = 48 miles / UK gallon.

Yeah I just found that out too, ok maybe I’m off with my expectations, just thought that I’d get more mpg especially on motorway cruising.

I know that my gen1 gets down into the mid 30's when riding in town.

The mpg control is in your right hand   :008:
I have seen over 50mpg average.....but don't dare check it if I'm pressing on a bit  :164:

So I’m getting pretty good mpg and I need to ride my bike harder is the general consensus  :152:

Doesn't sound great. I usually get 51-54mpg Imperial on my Mk 1, including motorway work. On Sunday I did about 230 miles with top box and panniers cruising at 80 indicated and got 54mpg. I've got that down to about 48mpg when cruising at 90 (indicated). I have a Madstad screen and winglets, and I think those cost me about 3mpg relative to the original screen, but that was too noisy to use at speed.

What speed are you cruising at, and do you have luggage? What screen are you running?
