Pirelli Angel GT Wear/cracking
« on: June 16, 2018, 12:48:12 PM »
Hello All,

I looked through some old posts but couldn't find an answer. I have a gen1 tex. I put Angel GTs on it last year and have ridden around 5k miles since. I've noticed significant cupping on both the front and rear. I also noticed some pretty deep cracks in the tread. These were new installs. I'm nowhere near the wear bars.

Anyone else have a similar experience? What kind of mileage have you seen on the angels?

Is the 0815 the date stamp? End of February 2015??
Not fresh tires but should not be cracking yet for sure. Refund time?
Looks like they were not stored correctly before you bought them??

Pirelli warranty doesn't cover "Tires which develop surface cracks due to use in low ambient temperatures"

Tell them you have a heated garage.  :024:

I had Pirelli Angels on the 1050 Sport, they were fine till about 4,500miles in then the rear started to wear a lot,, they wore down quickly and 500miles later they suddenly started cracking across the mid-section and went threadbare (literally) almost overnight, their car tyres are great, but I won't ever be buying bike tyres from them again  :006:
I'll never be old enough to know better !

I put a set of these on my bike for this summers riding.  We will see how they fare...so far only about 60km on them

Quick update: The tires have now developed serious cracks in the grooves of the tread and are leaking air from said cracks. I ordered a set of Michelin Road 5's to replace them. I never should have strayed from them in the first place. I wont be buying Pirellis again.

I've got to ask what has changed in Pirellies production?
I used the Angel GT's on a Ducati ST for years and absolutely loved them. Enough to know that's what I wanted on my '15 TEx. Now I'm having second thoughts.
