In the latest of a series of news stories that would have been unthinkable even two years ago, it’s now even starting to hit the bike industry with a 25% levy on all of HD’s bikes, starting from last Friday.

I’m not a HD fan, but this trade spat can’t end well for anyone  :003:

No doubt Indians will have a similar levy and their dealerships are at a very early stage on this side of the Atlantic. Really sorry for them.

Yes as it's actually ALL motorcycles from the USA.

Here is the WTO reference

He's a moron acting like a five year old and has absolutely no idea how economics work, he'll end up making imports (those things that Bush famously claimed were increasingly coming from abroad) too expensive for the domestic market and exports too expensive for their overseas markets, everybody loses, but hopefully so will he at the mid-terms  :038:

I'll never be old enough to know better !

At least the Harley dealer here in Dublin is also Triumph and Ducati, a little diversification will soften the blow for them. I feel sorry for the recently created Indian "sole brand" shop though, they invested heavily and only opened in 2017, if this drags out they're screwed! No doubt there will be a retaliatory strike on European motorcycles, everyone's a loser. I wonder if Thai made Triumphs are exempt as they are not made in the EU?

@ Dilbert: I missed that Bush-ism the first time around  :008:

Unfortunately, Trump doesn’t seem bright enough to have understood that there’s nothing new or clever in what he’s doing and it’s all been tried (and completely failed) before  :003:  There are going to be a lot of losers, both inside and outside the US, as he fumbles and blunders his way around some fairly basic lessons in economics and diplomacy.

Friends,

Let us leave politics off this forum.

Many of us in the USA support our President and his policies, and we have opinions about the policies of other countries, however, this is the place to discuss motorcycles and share our experience with them.

If you ever come to the USA, I will be happy to buy you all the beer or bourbon you can drink and talk politics until we are too drunk to stand, lets just not do it here.

Thanks and Ride Safe.
