I  looked them up on Revzilla and they want $491.00 for a set... there is just no way I could  ever pay that much for tires...thats just  nuts....

I would agree; but everything in the Adventure segment is overpriced. I’m less price sensitive when it comes to helmets and tires- really looking at capability and safety on those. The Anakee Adventure’s rubber composition is on par with the best street tires on the market and has a more aggressive tread. I only ride easy FS roads occasionally so it would seem to fit my riding style. No doubt the price reflects its newness to market; probably go down after the “next best tire” is introduced.

Early review on Revzilla indicates the usual ADV style tire drawback: great on pavement and dry gravel, but no good in mud.

All change  :008:

Michelin are now recommending Road 5 for general (normal) road riding and Anakee Wild for dirty bits, with Anakee 3 as a halfway house

Just ordered another set of Continental TKC 70 £237

Really liked the first set on my gen 1. Like a different bike.
Doing the Kielder 500 on them in March. I'll see how they ore on the forest roads.

Current Metzlers @ 5k miles are utterly shot. I thought it might be me, then I read the 9 ages on here about other peoples' experiences. Mine look exactly the same. Some people like 'em I know but they're not for me. I'd like to try others, but my experience with the TKC 70 was so positive, I just can't see a reason not to have them again.

The guys on the old Africa Twin forum always used to fit the TKC tyres for anything muddy, I had Anakees on mine as I'm more road biased, some things never change (that would have been back in 2004-2005 ?)  :001:

Should be fine in Kielder Forest, I took a FIAT Uno up that road (well halfway up it)  :008:

I hope you left it there and got a bus back ...

The TKC70s are really road biased but sort of like a mild cross over. The TKC 80s are knobbly. I didn't really fancy those although they get good reviews, it's not what I need.
