My 2014 still has the original. I never charge it like I started before. But dang it, I’m sure by reading this thread, my battery is sure to die soon!!!

Having read this thread and seen the cost of a new battery for my Gen3 (Yuasa @ £175) - ouch! I've decided to pamper mine and I upgraded my Battery Charger/Monitor to a CTEK MXS5.

2014 with 110,000kms on the original battery. I keep my bikes in an unheated shed (it gets REALLY cold here :190:) and have used Battery Tenders for years. OE batteries always seem to outlast replacements for some reason.

A good battery and a good tender gives me 6 to 8 years battery life on all of my vehicles. Sometimes a little more. Always on a tender when not used regularly.

I reckon 6 years is a pretty good run, Keith.

My 2015 TEx battery (now owned by a friend) is still l going strong.  Never seen a battery 'tender' in its life.  But then temperatures aren't too extreme in my neck of the woods.
-Having said that, it will now probably die on him.

I’m not upset with the battery. 6 years is a good run!  And I’m thankful it’s died 100 yards from my house. I’m AM upset with the junk Chinese jump box that has died while trying to start my TEx.

The bike did start and I was able to ride it 50 yards before it died again and now my jump box needs it’s second charge.

At 8 years one month the OE battery is fecked -jinxed by posting - no battery should be £175 - the best batteries imo are Odyssey’s which I use on my Laverdas - at just under £100 a pop they have excellent CCR and longevity
Tiffen - splendid idea - in the lunge

Don't be superstitious, as it causes bad luck.
