Tourance Next....Gen 3
« on: August 08, 2018, 07:14:39 AM »
Morning, Have any owners of the Tiger 1200/Gen3 had any problems with the Tourance Next tyre? I had a set of the iffy tyres on my Gen 2 and just wondered if Metzler had sorted this tyre yet. I'm due to get my Gen3 next month and considering going straight for a set of PR4's. If there have been no problems with the tyre in the last few month's, then I could live with them for a few miles.

I've done 4000km so far on my T1200, with no obvious issues from the tyres apart from the 'enhanced' noise.
Mixture of dry & wet bitumen, and hard packed tracks with wet bits including water-filled pot holes.  (Slid a bit on the wet bits.)

6400 and wearing a little funny. Getting a high spot in center of both tires. I do ride distance with a camping load on, a lot of it straight highway.

7300 miles on mine and they are still good, they've been exemplary in both both wet and dry conditions. Reckon I've got at least another 2k-3k on them.

My front was on the wear indicators on the front at 6500 miles and the back was pretty squared off. They tram-lined horrendously from the minute I rode it out of the show room. I found them pretty vague when pushed to be honest but in the wet they were pretty good even when there were rivers running across the road.

The PR4's I have now put on allow me to put the front where I like and just give much more "feeling" if you know what I mean.  I have the Trail on the front and the GT on the back and after 2000 miles no squaring off as yet.   :028:

I pulled them off my new bike after only 640miles due to the noise. Have no requirement for that little bit of of road usage so went with the new Battlax T31 and returned last night from a quick trip to Vosges, France for a play on the twisties  :002:

Now over 2000 miles on them and cant fault them.  :002:

I have the T31,s on my gen 1 and it has turned the bike into a pure sports bike in the bendy stuff and has amazing grip levels with these tires..wont know what winter will be like with them as all my bikes get laid up when the salt hits the roads by the stupid councils :230:

After only 1250km on my new XRX that is what I will do next week. Remove the noisy "wahwahwahwah" Tourance Next and replace those with T31's . I had T31's  on my Tiger Sport during my trip in the Alpes in June. They were top in all kinds of weather.
