Avon Trail riders?
« on: August 16, 2018, 02:46:47 PM »
Anyone used these.
The bike had 8000 miles and looking at no tread at all (slicks)  I guess the original tyres.
The dealer has put new boots on Avon Trail?
Anyone used these?

Cheers BIG BILL

Yes and love 'em. Just changed the rear after approx 6000. Front still going strong.

OEM Metzlers were probably the worst tyres I have ever had on a bike, had no confidence in them at all.

After reading those posts you wouldn't know what to think? You can find superb/good/bad reviews on every single tyre out there, some swearing they are the best tyre they ever had and others claiming the worst. My Tourance Next OEM's were great tyres for handling and wet weather (still have the rear) but awful noisy on the front and starting wearing oddly after only a few hundred km, the replacement Bridgestone A41 front has kept its shape nicely after several thousand km and is much quieter. I doubt it is as quiet as a 100% road biased tyre but acceptable. Then you will have others stating the Metzeler have worn normally and make little noise on thier bike, it's all a lottery with tyres!

Cheers! for all the replies

Tyres are a big debate  :001:
I also like the look of the Dunlop Trailmax/smart, they have good online reviews, so... I may try these, I have not had a Dunlop on any of my bikes since the late 70's early 80's.

I got offered these at a great price.

Another + for the TrailRiders, I mounted them on my '14 XC and have close to 5k mikes on them with lots of life left. They are a good all around tire from gravel to highway, a huge improvement over the Tourance EXP stock tires.
