Bike review: honda vision

Test location : Meganisi, Greece.

Traffic conditions: light (Meganisi island has one taxi.)

Protective gear: sandals.

Mission objectives: all the beaches and tavernas on an island 15km long.

Top speed: 40kph
Touring speed: 30kph
Sightseeing speed: 20kph

Road conditions: random bits of tarmac, plus concrete and a lot of hardpacked gravel.

Special capabilities: turning circle is 2m, ideal for when the tarmac runs out. Can get up a hill, just, 2-up.

Off-road: not really.

Fuel consumption: five litres in two days.

Hire cost: Euro50 for two days (a bit much, but guy had a monopoly. Economics 101!)

Summary: Honda know how to make a scooter for these conditions.

Pillion opinion (the only one that matters): "that was a lot of fun".

I'm amazed you found a genuine Honda to hire not a clone.

The reggae bar was the best. The wonders of the internet brought a reggae-only internet radio station. Furniture was green, red and yellow. Absolute perfection.

Me too. Amazingly, the Honda virtues were recognisable. Smooth engine and "clutch", progressive suspension. Unlike the chinese scoot i hired a year ago, which crashed the damper on each bump, grabby brakes, harsh fuelling.

Best bit: the Honda had linked brakes; 60/40 to the rear. Perfect for gravel stops.
