Front turn signal $54US!
« on: October 07, 2018, 03:53:22 PM »
Broke my left side signal yesterday in a bone head fall.
Lower bars and bark busters did their job!
Stopped by the dealership on the way home and ordered a new one...shocked at the price.
Re-thinking alternatives if this happens again.
What have you done? Pictures would be good.

Actually, that doesn't sound too bad to me. Remember that the cost of parts is all about the handling, packaging, indexing, storage and distribution rather than the actual cost of the part.

:0461:......and remarkably T sell just the clear lens so if that's all you broke you don't have to buy the whole unit.......unless you've got LEDs of course!

Learn from my mistake.
I did only need the clear lens. Turns out I glued the lens back on as a temporary fix which ruined the whole signal. Never just jump the gun, always do some research.
BTW... good thing I took others advice and had an extra shift lever in my kit. Was able to straighten the OE and re-install the next day.

This reminds me, one of my turn signals is still held on/together with electrical tape for the same reason.   :084:

Let me guess; your last bike (or your other bike) was a KLR... :152:

Haha!  I do have a KLR! But I had the TEx first.  The KLR was kind of an accident.  I had and old VW I was selling and got the KLR as a partial trade.

It happens to the best of us. I had one for about 7 years, but finally sold it about a year after getting my TEX. I loved that KLR, but really can't say I miss it... :164:
