Lunch Break - Wicklow, Ireland
« on: October 10, 2018, 04:59:08 PM »
I had some time off work this lunch so I put my sandwich on the bike and took to the hills. Great weather again for this time of year and very mild.

Didn't want to start another thread. A few like minded Triumph owners met up at the Papal cross in Phoenix Park , Dublin, headed northwards to Slane Castle for soup and sandwiches then back down the east coast. Good Craic all round.

About 20 of us took the long way round to Ireland's oldest weaving mill (1723) at Avoca today, tea &  scones all round, mad fools that we are, party on! Only one other Triumph, an older 1050 Tiger but in great shape. Back home via the good old and very popular Wicklow mountains, the place was jammers with bike clubs & groups today, great to see.

Excellent coffee there and bakewell slices. Don't bring the Wife there though or You will come out with a much lighter wallet  :001:

As it happens I had a Bakewell slice too Griff! I know what you are saying, the stuff they sell is pretty expensive. Buy the way, that Tiger Sport in the showroom in Dublin that I saw you casting an eye on  :038: (A good while back, at the Tiger 800 launch I think?), he sold it last week, stacked out with luggage to a happy new owner.

Yes I was looking seriously at it for a while but in the end I felt it wouldn't have been ideal for the sort of riding and two up touring that I do. TBH nothing could replace the Explorer from that point of view but the DL goes a good part of the way.  :002:
