R&G rear bung fits Gen3 - slight mod
« on: November 01, 2018, 07:29:18 PM »
Although not listed for the Tiger 12 I thought I'd get one of the rear bungs to try:
https://www.rg-racing.com/browsebike/Triumph/Tiger_Explorer_1200/2015/SP0033BK/

Right enough, the 3rd Gen is a very slightly larger hex and the expanding hex of the bung rattles not snug.
Single strip of duct tape to make up the slight gap, tighten up, rock solid.

Looks like you've got a bung in the rear wheel spindle too - is that your own mod or is it now standard on the Gen 3 ?

Wondered if anyone would notice that.
My own mod. Small hole but also did the other side. I know there'll be opinions on trapping water in there but cavity coated with ACF50 and I've taken sections out the retaining groves so it's not a seal behind the larger one.

I've a few spares if anyone wants to cover postage.

I've done the same on both my Tex's. No issue with corrosion due to trapped water yet. I can't work out why any manufacturers leave any voids uncapped. They are just extra crud traps that need cleaning, and lots of bikes have them. It would make owner's lives a whole lot easier if all designers had to do basic home maintenance & wash/clean their bikes as part of the pre-production process!

Wheel spindles are left uncapped to prove to the casual observer that they're hollow - just like race bikes!

Stylists are the sworn enemy of engineering.
