Would this gear shift lever fit our bikes?
« on: December 02, 2018, 02:35:24 AM »
I have been looking for a longer gear shift lever for my 2013 Explorer. To be clear, I'm referring to the length of the lever it's self, not the little toe peg at the end of the lever.

Other postings on this forum have referred to these two items: https://www.twistedthrottle.com/sw-motech-adjustable-folding-gear-shift-lever-for-triumph-explorer-motorcycles ($192.95 US), and this item: http://www.wunderlichamerica.com/motorcycle/8500194.html  ($220.95 US).  Note that the Wunderlich is actually made for the BMW 650, 700, 800 GS series.

I am sure those products are great, but I can't afford either one of them.  I embarked on a quest to find an affordable alternative.   I have found the following item that is both adjustable in length and has a folding toe peg (to reduce damage when the bike goes down):  (yes, they apparently like reeeally long URL's in China)

My question is, will this lever that is actually made for the BMW 650, 700, 800 GS series fit our bikes?  At $43 bucks, I'm thinking it might be worth a try?

I guess it's down to the diameter and number of splines isn't it. Not sure how you could tell other than to ask them or borrow a BMW lever.

Let us know the outcome if you will. I like the look of those. The lever off set might be greater too if I'm not mistaken.

Interested as well.
I’ve got someone with a gs800. I’ll take a look.

This one fits for sure

I used it on 2013 and 2014 models. Didn't try the 2018 model yet.

That's the one I bought when I found out our shift levers are a weak link. Glad I did, already used it!
With size 13 boots and a little bit forward rider pegs installed, I need a longer lever as well.

Might have to get me one of those folding gear levers, as I recently discovered while cleaning the bike, that my gear lever has been touching the road while cornering  :021:
