Back on a Tiger 1200
« on: January 01, 2019, 12:48:51 PM »
Good morning folks, just thought id say hello again as I've been away for a while after selling my 14 plate Tex. Ive been enjoying the last 3 years riding a versys 1000 and a Triumph Trophy SE.  Just sold both of them and get my new Tiger 1200 XRX delivered on Saturday.

Can't wait to be back on a proper Adventure bike.

Happy New Year and enjoy the ride!

Welcome Daz33, I would be interested to see what your thought of your Versys. I thought it has always been a very underrated bike with a great load capacity for touring, not far behind the Explorer in that respect at least.

Thank you for the welcome messages guys. 1 more sleep until it arrives and I'm reet excited.  :046:  Xca tel, the versys was a very good bike especially that butter smooth engine that just pulled in every gear and light clutch was nice.    However the ride quality was not the best, mainly the front end which was a bit bouncy. I found the seat uncomfortable After more than 50 miles due to the slope. Even the gel seat wasn't much better. The factory panniers were also way too small at 28 ltrs. However I lived with it for 3.5 years and still enjoyed it. Some friends had their versy's suspension rebuilt at Maxton which transformed  the bikes and they handled like they were on rails. Having had 2 Triumph tiger 1200's I know these bikes just have more presence and Charactor, they are more comfy, and handle better, so I am very happy to be back on a 1200 XRX with even more toys to enjoy than my previous models.

Thanks for that info on the Versys Daz. You might like the new seat material in the Gen 3 which I believe provides even more comfort than the Explorers (I've never ridden a Gen 1 or 2), I can do 10 hours on this bike no problem, 90 minutes on my 2016 Africa Twin before I was squirming.
