2013 explorer expedition luggage
« on: April 01, 2019, 10:49:29 AM »
Hi guys, does anyone know if you can fit the expedition luggage on the 2013 explorer. I can't find the part number on world of triumph. Likewise with the expedition topbox.

Givi site lists the PL6408CAM rack for the '13 bike so that's the same as current model.
Don't see any reason why the Triumph kit wouldn't: www.givi.co.uk

Top box plates definitely fit, Givi or Triumph  :028:

I've a boxed Triumph pannier rack for sale if that helps you?

Thanks for reply. I spoke to Triumph today. It looks like they made the adventure rack only for the gen 1 model.  My options are to adapt a rack from the newer model or else adapt a rack from the tiger 800. Anyone with any experience please let me know.

SW Motech makes a universal rack that has multiple mount option kits. I bought one to replace my Givi rack recently on my 2013 TEX.

Yes they did but givi and sw motech both did pannier racks and their luggage will be cheaper than Triumph ones. So you might have to have a seperate key for the boxes but I think the locks are bigger on the expedition range than the ones that came with a 1st gen explorer

I have the Triumph Expedition rack and luggage fitted to my 2013 Tex.
It fits no problem but only if you have an aftermarket end can. I have a Remus.
The OE end can is to wide for the racks to fit.

Here's my story:

I bought Givi's Outback Trekker sidecases (42 & 37) and their mounting bracket for my 2014 TEX - which is the same as the 2013 TEX. And then when I upgraded something I got Triumph Expedition cans for free. And when I tried to mount them on I noticed that there is an additional plastic protrusion in the center (to make sure that Triumph can have its own stuff and not be compatible with other Givi things I guess). I really wanted to have the Triumph logo on the cases, so I persevered and found a way to install them on the Givi mounts: I jammed them in. Literally banged on them until they gave up and settled in. I am still riding the same, when I purchased the Mk3 I asked them to move the mounting brackets and the cases to the new bike. Triump changed something around the footpegs thinking that that'd prevent me. But I moved the footpeg mounts from the old bike to the new bike as well. So now I ride a bike that's 95% new 5% old. Where there is a will, there is a way.

So, you can buy the Givi Trekker Outback mounts and jam the Triumph Expeditions on them. Or just buy the Trekker Outbacks - they are literally the same cans.

I did the same as Icy, But I cut he Plastic Protrusion off.. its very easy to do. The Triumph Boxes fit the Givi Frame very well on my Gen 1, Same as Gen 2.
Anyone can make it complicated..... Its pure Genius to make it Simple....

Now that's my kind of engineering: if it resists, force it. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway ;-)))
