Stainless brake lines?
« on: April 04, 2019, 02:32:09 AM »
Did a bit of looking on the net, but can't seem to find anyone who has premade stainless brake/clutch lines for the gen1 TEX. Does anyone know of someplace that stocks these?

I seem to remember that Tex's lines already are steel braided (even if it doesn't show from their look).
Have I dreamt all this?

My local custom/chopper/rat bike shop can make them while I wait - they have to keep all the components in stock for all their customers with silly high/wide handlebars! They do a wide choice of pretty hose colours too if that floats your boat.

I found a place locally that made steel brake lines for my 955 Tiger. Ask your local bike shop-they probably know a place

Hmm... mine look and feel like stiff black plastic. I guess if I was going to go the custom route, I'd have to pull all the lines off the bike so that they could be measured and then order them. Sounds like a winter job, but maybe not necessary. I thought I remembered that they needed to be replaced after 5 years.

The stock lines are indeed braided steel covered with a plastic coating.
