It comes with everything you need to mount it on the handlebars. Here is a link to an earlier post with pics. Don't forget there is a 20% off promo code at the moment if buying via the Tom Tom website.

If you want to create routes on a PC and send/store to the unit get yourself a small memory card and fit in the empty microSD card slot. A low cost 8 or 16GB will suffice.

Right have got one of these 550 things - i assume you are talking about creating a route on mydrive - should this not just appear in my TomTom if i connect it up ? or has it got to be transferred by memory card
Tiffen - splendid idea - in the lunge

Yes, you don’t need to connect up to the Sat Nav or take out the memory card. Just have one in there and that is the separate save location for your created routes so you are not writing in the same memory space as the Sat Nav original files. I use MyRouteApp (GOLD) because I like it and it saves to the Tom Tom via MyDrive. You saving in MyDrive will have the same end result. Just have the Tom Tom connected to your home wireless network.

Here is the excerpt from the manual

.....you can use a memory card as extra storage space to add extra maps or to store routes and tracks to your device.

Important: Routes and tracks cannot be stored on the same memory card as maps because different memory card formatting is used.
