Hi from the Motor City!
« on: April 24, 2019, 03:07:46 PM »
Sold my 2012 Tiger 800 XC last week...to fund my new 2018 1200 XCA which Im picking up from Triumph Cleveland on Saturday. Had the 800 since new and i absolutely loved that bike. But had the itch for more cc's.  :001:

Well :400: to the family, flyboy. You can't go wrong with either bike, but I do like the extra power, size & comfort of the TEX better than the 800. Enjoy your new ride & ride safe! :821:

Welcome from another almost Motor City’er!
Cheers, Ian

Welcome mate!
I know the 800 pretty well and the current one is an excellent bike by every aspect.
However, I wouldn't downsize because of: comfort, protection, road presence and TORQUE!
(unlike Icy's, mine is set on Sport at all times, making it a smooth ride able to turn into Mr Hyde at the twist of a wrist ;-)

yeah, mine is set on Rain mode because it's New York baby. These are not roads, we don't have proper asphalt here - we have defensive trenches! I need all the help I can get because I love broken, unpaved, uneven, suddenly slippery, bouncy bouncy lady, stop & go, pothole-fest & pot-fest... Tiger rules the city... rain, snow or sunshine

I know Icyankee ;-)
I was on the same approach in the beginning, but ultimately settled on Sport just because the TC/ABS have my back at all times (this is not an assumption, but an experimental finding ;-).
And there are a number of instances in my daily commute when I have to (want to ;-) overtake rapidly. I could be a bit more defensive, but hey I can't help twisting this right grip sometimes ;-)

Anyway, kudos to the mighty all-weather West Manhattan Commuter!
