Getting too anal with oil changes is wasted effort. Change with decent oil to the schedule, hot or cold, it makes no odds in the long run. Changing oil unnecessarily and using flushing formulas is a mugs game and using the planets resources for the enrichment of the company marketing the stuff. My car has 230,000km in it, oil changed as scheduled and no more, half synthetic, doesn’t use a drop, ever.

Absolutely
Everyone has an opinion, some based on fact/experience some in theory.
Personally I’ve never held onto a bike or automobile long enough to play the experience card.
How would making the internals squeaky clean then lube before firing back up a bad thing? May not be necessary as some has stated but how is it bad to go the extra mile?

If you are referring to a crankcase flush procedure, you would be running the engine without the OEM specified lubricant in it while doing the flush.

There is no possible way to get the internals of an engine "squeaky clean" between oil changes -- unless you disassemble it.

Hi FredJ9 -not sure anyone is saying it is "bad" to go the extra mile just that it is wasted effort, you will never experience or get value out of that effort. I don't think it is a matter of opinion either, the benefit is massively disproportionate (or even non-existent) to the effort in time and money. As I mentioned earlier, it might make a difference to the engine at 500,000 miles, a mileage that engine will never ever see.
We are of course masters of our own destiny and can spend our time and money in any way we wish, everyone is entitled to do an oil schedule/clean/flush if they want, regardless of people’s opinion!
