Or just read the label on the can of Brake Cleaner. Some specifically warn against using on rubber as it degrades the wax in rubber, others don't.

Hence the difference between chlorinated, and non-chlorinated brake cleaners.

Another question: Mark Barrets manual says to grease the exposed threads of the bolt before you replace the locknuts.
With the same grease used on the other parts or would coppergrease be better ?

Absolutely correct which is why I prefer to just wipe things down with a clean cloth.  I try and use solvents very sparingly as if you do not clean them off thoroughly , they may  cause more problems down the road
