Engine Casing RHS
« on: September 19, 2019, 12:33:04 PM »
Hi All.
I posted this on the FB site but adding here for further distribution.
I was cleaning the bike (2019 1200 XRT) and saw this:

Planning a visit to Dealer but interested to hear if anyone else has the same mark (I'm not calling it a crack, not yet anyway !!)

Cheers

Difficult to tell from pics if its a flaw in the casting or paint finish. Is there any sign of an oil leak thru' a porous casting?

Keep us posted.

No leaks, you can catch your nail in the gap so its a flaw of some description, don't have the wherewithal to test for material thickness so difficult to assess whether its a surface issue or the beginning of something worse, we'll see what the Dealer has to say. Bikes only just over a month old !

I had rust in that exact area ( 18plate gen 2 ) 5k in to owner ship, dealership has just changed internals into new upper and lower casing under warranty, worth going and getting it checkout out.

Looks like a flaw in the casting.

QA should be picking this up. Wrist slap at Hinckley I think  :084:
