I tested both before plumping for the Tiger.
I had a BMW S1000R before this so had the opportunity to ride the GS1200 as a courtesy bike and then the 1250 when it came out. The 1250 is very good compared to the 1200, the telelever/paralever suspension is a marvel but I couldn't get past the agricultural transmission and the fact that's its so ugly only its mother could love it !!!
Very happy with the 1200XRT although I do know what you mean about slow speed / stopping noticing the weight but its probably partly because I came from a bike half its weight and secondly I just need to get used to it.
