Heated seat, am i expecting too much
« on: November 22, 2019, 06:29:14 PM »
My bike has a heated seat, it does get warm but not to the point that i really feel the heat, am i expecting too much, are they all like this or do i have an issue.

If i put the seat on i can feel it warm up with my hand on the seat but when riding no real warm feeling.

anyone else have this issue.

Pete

Hi Pete. I’ve recently fitted a new heated seat on my 2012 Explorer and found it to be great. On a cold UK autumn day I have found it nice and warm on it’s lowest setting. I usually wear motorcycle jeans, thermal longjohns and if it’s raining some thin waterproof leggings.

Probably dependant on the kit you are wearing. Decent winter kit that keeps you warm may take longer for the heat to pass through or may even absorb some of it

I recognize the doubt Pete has. My 2019 also does't get really warm.
Might be the pants, might be the seat doesn't heat all that hard (anymore?)

I'll have my dealer have a look at it in 2k km when it's due for first checkup...

Fitted one to my 2013 Tex a couple of months ago, and it gets very toasty, so have to turn it off before me sausage is cooked. Problem is trying to locate the switch when your riding along :005:
Need to get out and practice that one a bit more often, but yes I think you have an issue.

On both my 2017 and 2018 they were not great.  They eventually got somewhat warm but took a while.

On the hot setting mine takes a while to warm up to its full potential, then after an hour it's unbearably hot so I turn it down to the lower setting - if I can find/feel the switch with winter gloves on!

Fitted a new heated seat 2 weeks ago and to be fair i had to turn it off after 20 mins on the low setting. Was really toasty and couldn't have imagined riding with it for much longer. Have to agree that it took a bit of fumbling about to switch it off lol..
