From what I've heard the Gen4 isn't coming until 2022.

And it gets the same engine configuration as the 900 !  :110: :004:  That really kills all the fun  :112:

Why don't they make a shaft driven Speed Triple ??

Because it's not a touring bike...

Wouldn't be surprised, but this would probably kill any chance of finding one in my garage.  Too bad they can't make a street version Tiger with the new 1200 Street Triple motor, now that I would line up for.  I'm assuming the ST will get a 120 crank, not the T-plane version.  Was shopping with my daughter this week for some riding apparel for her and we stopped at a well know German maker and I saw a very nice R1250RS.  If Triumph keeps this up I'll seriously consider an alternate brand, which I REALLY don't want to do. :034:

Perhaps a shaft driven 1200 Trident is on the cards.
If so I hope it gets better pillion accomodation than the new one.

That being said, my XRX with the short screen is my street bike.

That might be tempting.  My XRT does not see dirt, it's my touring/street rig.  If I want to ride in the dirt I'll get something better designed for it.  My previous bike was an FJR1300 which was a fantastic bike, but could never it comfortable for my back.  The XRT is so much more comfortable, and feels like a sport bike after the FJ.

What it makes me wonder if the 1200 engine that is in the new Speed Triple will be an engine they will put in the Tiger.  They can keep the Tiger a 1200, it will have more horsepower and it would be one less engine they would need to keep up on for the regulations.  I would think they would either do that or they are going to have several new models of bikes based on the new Tiger engine.   It seems to be that it wouldn't be worth it to have an engine for only one bike with all of the regulations required now to meet emissions.    Tuning could give you the HP and torque characteristics you want.  It would also make it easier to have a standard Tiger and a Tiger sport.   The switch between a shaft drive and a chain drive would be bolting on a different unit at the output shaft.

More likely to be a Tiger Sport 1200 to replace the Tiger Sport 1050.
