Daytona 1200 Valve Clearances - other bikes
on: March 09, 2020, 08:58:09 AM
So after taking all four carbs out to replace the airbox/airfilter on my Daytona 1200, (who thought that would be a good idea?) I thought I might as well check the valve clearances. I'm short a narrow 12mm spark plug so that stopped me in my tracks and I need to purchase the Triumph shim removal tool to change those shims. The tool is still available from Triumph and for a decent €36 which I was pleasently suprised at. I have only measured two clearances so far as I can't turn the engine over easily with the plugs still in but two inlet valves out of spec already, too tight. I have a service stamp from a dealer saying the valve clearances were done less than 4,500 miles ago - I call foul on that, If you want something doing!  :232:
