According to the Triumph instructions, the correct version for the Explorer XRX (from VIN 740277) is part number A9708366. You can see it here...

The one shown in the sale is for the earlier Explorers (upto VIN 740276), as shown here...

Visually they're different (e.g. stitching), and possibly the foam construction or heater element may also be different, but I'm not aware of any structural changes between the models.

Whereabouts are you in the country, you might be able to see another member’s Gen 1 to compare.
2013 to date: 2013 Tiger 1200 &
2020 to date: 2015 Trophy 1200
And always a Land Rover / Range Rover of some sort 😁

I’ve got a gen 1 bike but a heated seat from a gen 3.
The seat fits on the bike perfectly, but the looms and connectors are not compatible. Therefore my heated seat isn’t.
I really ought to get an electrician to hook it up, but I’ve never got round to it.

So, the Gen 1 seat will fit your gen 2 bike, of that I’m sure. But will the electrics hook up? I’m afraid I can’t answer that question with any confidence.

Not sure if this reply helps, but if I were you I’d do more research before parting with money (unless you aren’t worried about the heating facility).

Good point. I’m based between Glasgow and Edinburgh just off the M8 I’ve not seen many other explorers on my commute to work but hopefully there might be someone not too far away.

I did a post on this issue some time back. The seats work in different ways. essentially the gen 1 has two coils. On low, one heats up and on high they both heat up. Both coils just get 12v fed to them. Gen 2 onwards is different. The heat, in simple terms, is computer controlled and the whole seat works on the current being increased - kinda thing.

I fitted a gen 1 seat to a gen 2 bike after having a gel pad iinstalled and found the cables that sent higher current to the seat, pulled the pins from the connectors and re inserted them into the old plug. It does work. Not sure about fitting a gen 3 seat to agen 1 bike. Never taken one to bits, but I'd suspect that fed with the std 12 it would heat up. Can't say if you'd be able to get both high and low heat settings.

Triumph UK are having a sale of accessories at the moment.  https://www.triumphmotorcycles.co.uk/accessories/accessory-clearance

Mixture of gear for the Explorer/Gen3, not too much but there is some. Heated grips are half price, some Aluminium panniers sets too.

I’ve tried to find the TPMS sensors on that list, can’t find any in the uk at that price, or am I missing summat?? Part number is A9640170. Listed as for Japan but they will fit all bikes I’m told!

I'm sure the ones for Japan operate on a different frequency so no good for UK (and most of the rest of the world).
