Triumph Panniers
on: January 27, 2021, 03:23:38 AM
New 2019 1200 XcX.  Triumph branded panniers.  Placard has max weight at 11#.  My boot weigh that:)  I was going to sell and get Jesse bags, but thought I would seek expert help!  How much weight can you safely put itno each bag?  I think they are Givi...

The panniers can take as much as you want, it is the frame and latching mechanism that probably drives the suggested weight limit. The same pannier from Givi gives a 10Kg limit yet Tiumph state 5Kg for their supply, the Triumph designers might be adding a larger margin of safety. I have often gone well over the 5Kg limit along with roll bags on the lid. As a precaution though I have used a strap from the top of the pannier to the frame rail for a little peace of mind.

:0461:Agreed with that. They are more than capable of taking up to 8kg. I have packed panniers and top box with 8kg on a number of occasions and had no hassles.

Thanks!  I was going to sell the racks and panniers and buy Jesse Bags. They seem to have set the industry standard. 8kg is nothing!  My boots weigh that!!!!  lol
