Thanks everyone for all the info, what an awesome group and source of information!

Dealer has ordered parts to correct under warranty.   Will update when I am advised what the issue was.

pwraight - Good luck with the service.  Frustrating, but it happens. 

arbs766 - Thank you very much for bringing news of this "quiet" failure mode.  Since I do my own valve gap adjustments, etc, it would cause me great worry the moment the rattle changes. (If it does) As in "What did I screw up this time?" 

Now I know what to look for.
