Options other than Anakee 3’s
on: September 25, 2021, 12:32:00 AM
I have a 2013 Tiger Explorer.  I am going back to 90/10 street tire for the next set (or at least something that handles great on road).  My last road tire were the Anakee 3’s.  Which tires out there are every bit as good on road?

I've just fitted a set of Bridgestone A41's which are proving to be very impressive and suit the bike very well. The Continental Trail Attack 3's also get good reviews as do the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2's. All these are listed as a 90/10 option, it may come down to what you can get locally ?

Thanks for the input.  The Anakee 3’s are a little scarce right now.

There seems to be a lot of that around. My friend is still waiting for a Pilot 4 front to match the new rear he had fitted a couple of weeks ago.

I had three sets on Anakee 3’s and loved them, then I decided to try something different to compare and fitted Scorpion Trail 2’s. In my opinion the Scorpion’s are even better than the Anakee’s so I’d recommend you give them a try.

:431: I've not encountered a tyre better than Anakee 3 on same terms. There are superior pure road oriented tyres, but I actually rate Anakee 3 as 70/30 not 90/10 it's that good of a magical rubber for me imho - it fails on mud and more than an inch deep sand and aggressive singletrack riding - but it's never left me stranded on anything else including f'ing pure ice and modest off-road speeds.

I've heard great raves about Shinko 705 from its fans, but if they're as much a fan of that tyre as I am of Anakee 3 - I take that rave with a grain of salt  :745:

Btw, I just checked Revzilla, what's going on with tyres? Almost nothing is available, wow

I ordered a set of Pirelli Scorpion Trail IIs from Revzilla a few weeks back.

Not a lot of availability, and my tires came separately from 2 different warehouse.

Tires must be hard to come by, like everything else from oversees.

Not sure if you are looking to replace the Anakee or just the 3
I currently run the Anakee Adventure - which I've found particularly good for road use for a dual sport tire....
