NinjaWabbit - Newbie wobbling about on a Tiger 1200 XCA
on: November 27, 2021, 12:16:13 PM
Hi, all...

I recently upgraded from a Kawasaki Versys 650 to a slightly used 2019 Tiger 1200 XCA - and am absolutely loving the experience! Having done 27k miles on the Versys in under 4 years, the transition is interesting - the weight of the Tiger and the nature of its clutch being the main points where I am having to adapt, for now. The toys are fun to play with, however, and the big cat's response to having its ear twisted gives grins galore.  :047:

I am also slowly immersing myself in all things Triumph, hence my presence here - I promise to take a proper look around the forum before posting any of the million-and-five questions I have!

Here it is as I first met it - I simply could not help falling hopelessly in love:

Have fun and stay safe.

Welcome to the forum, a trove of useful info.
Not that any of us are biassed, but you've done yourself a great service with your upgrade from Versys to Tiger 1200.
Be aware that it is more of a (great) tourer than an off-road machine.  Bit too heavy to throw around the rocks, but magic on the highway, and capable of a huge load.

:401: from Ireland, fantastic colour choice too. She is a heavy girl and a light material type tailpack is all you need for day rides, save lugging about all that metal.

Swap out the clutch lever for a folding dog leg, maybe from someone like Evotech, there are other cheaper brands too. This doesn't change the nature of the clutch but brings the bite point closer to the grip making it more controllable.

Welcome from Cornwall!  A great choice of model and colour may I say!
It’s a great place to ask questions and every day is a school day!

Your name is not Wodewick or Bwyan by any chance?  :007: :007:
