To my knowledge, there is absolutely no connection between low/high beam and turn signals on the Mk1 bikes.
As far as I remember, there is not even a common wire.
That's a weird one indeed!

the only common part is that the ecu controls the turn signal and maybe the current change in the headlights causes some sort of shut down on the turn signals.
Freeking magic.

On a Mk1 I don't think so.
Back in the days, I had posi-tapped the indicators to feed switchback LED strip on my handguards and it worked instantly (no relay whatsoever). Never had a glitch on the stock indicators either.
