New from Texas

Been riding since 1971.  Always into sport bikes.  I did some amateur road racing 40 years ago.  I’m retired, have three bikes and ride 4-5 days a week and do a long trip every year.

I’m picking up a 2023 Tiger 1200 GT Explorer today, trading a 2017 FJR1300.  I’m not an Adventure type guy, but because the market has given up on sport touring bikes (except BMW), this is my new long distance bike. 

I also have a 2020 Ninja 1000SX and a 2018 CBR1000RR.

Welcome aboard and don't let marketing fool you: the Tiger 1200 actually is a touring bike. With proper windscreen tweaking, I found it better suited to long distances than even the (now retired) Triumph Trophy!

I too traded up from a FJR1300 to a Tiger (2018), and am sure you won't be disappointed.

Agree with Nik that the the 1200 Tiger is mainly a tall touring bike.... a real mile-muncher 
However it is more than capable of handling trails (speaking from experience), but I wouldn't recommend anything too technical / challenging and would always ride these with someone else in case you have a spill - not much fun picking up such a big bike on your own on rough ground (again speaking from experience  ).
