Trumph Gen 4 Key Barrel in GIVI Dolomite / Trekker case

Ok so I have read that GEN 3 Triumph locks can be bought for GIVI Trekker cases - is that true of the GEN 4 barrels yet?

Basically I bought a standard GIVI Dolomite 30 ltr case for my GT Explorer and I want to fit the Triumph GEN 4 key barrel to it but I am unsure how to proceed.  Has anyone done this yet?

Apologies if it has been covered else where specifically for the GEN 4.

Mine came with three locks keyed to the bike key, but I ordered the luggage with the bike, so I’m unsure if that’s normal, or not.

As far as installing them, it’s easy:
    • Remove the lock core from its plastic barrel with the key, and make sure the key stays in it until it’s installed in the lock, or pins and springs will fall out.
    • There are two prongs on the back end of the lock core, and a tab that stands proud on the side.
    • If you shine a light into the empty barrel, you should be able to see that it only goes in one way, so the prongs engage matching holes, and the tab goes in.
    • Push the core into the barrel with the key until it clicks and is captured in the barrel.

It’ll take longer to read that than to actually do it.

    Hope this helps.

It is standard, Triumph puts three locks under the seat for you or the dealer to use in their luggage. It is a nice thing, many other manufacturers charge for them. I think Yamaha charge £27 per lock.

Where under the seat?  I have not seen them.  I called my dealer and am waiting to hear back from them.

If you can't see them they are not there, dealer is your best bet.  I have taken out two Tiger 900 demo bikes when my bike was in for service and there was a pack of three in a plastic bag under the seat on both, they are pre-matched to the ignition key.

Thank you for replying but I probably should be more specific.  I went down the route of not buying the Triumph specific givi luggage and bought just the old givi luggage but was wondering if anyone has put the gen 4 key barrels in the old luggage not the Triumph specific.

As far as key barrels go mine where provided in the Triumph folder they give with the bike and the spare keys.

    Hi, Farrow.

It is correct, the cylinders are different and they are NOT compatible with generation 4.

I had the same problem at the beginning and I had to change my top box for the "new" model so that the cylinders that came with the bike (3) could be used without problems. (not making changes or adaptations works)

You can change the piece of the brooch and with that you solve.

    Cheers

If you’ve got the Givi Trekker top box, then get the Triumph latch from your dealer to replace the original Givi latch and the key barrel will fit. It’s virtually the same mechanism. Costs about £30 to £40.

If you’ve the Givi Dolomiti, then don’t think there is an easy solution yet.

The Triumph latch part number is on here somewhere; there’s been several threads about it.  Think it was under Gen4 luggage.
