vibration front brakes XCA 1200 2018 8000 miles

hi all,

Hi everyone...

my machines front brakes have started to vibrate at low speed, just as i come to a stop.

The brake pads were apparently changed under warranty when the bike was with the previous owner, so i'm assuming they're fine.

I've removed pads, cleaned, reassembled them and they were fine for a few hours but then it's back again.

any ideas what i should look for/try?           

is this a known issue? I wonder why the dealer changed the brakes without charge?

Hi Telbags,
I seem to remember call there being a recall due to brake pads delaminating on the 2018 model.

As for the vibration, I wonder if one of you front disks is slightly warped and/or brake cylinder a bit sticky?

that explains the pads change at the dealers... thanks!

hoping not the discs, there's no vibration in the bars, but there is a high(ish) pitched squeal... was thinking it could just be the pads vibrating, but ive reassembled, put copper ease behind the pads, cleaned everything thoroughly... and the retaining mechanism seems tight and effective?

just stumped as to what it could be...

i could ask the dealer to sort but my local Triumph dealer is £100 per hour!

Squealing brakes is very common on Triumph (all of my five did it sooner or later).
As long as your pads are not completely worn and your caliper pistons are not stuck, this doesn't impact braking performance.

I've had a similar issue for some time (at least since my front brake pads were replaced under the recall), but recently it appears to be much more noticeable.

You should also makes sure the brake rotor buttons are free of crud and moving allowing it to float.

i seem to have resurrected this topic... i'll try it out on differnt modes to see if theres an internal/system reason for the phenomenon but will clean the floating bobber things, too...

cheers for all the good feedback...great to have more experienced minds doing the hard thinking!
