My brother and I are headed to your part of the world next year, late summer or early fall. A bit of an ancestral pilgrimage, we want to explore the homeland of our Welsh forefathers. Planning on flying into Heathrow, then rent a couple of Tigers and head to Wales. No set itinerary, but want to see Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia, the coast and of course a castle or two.
Dirtyduck,
If you are near to Cardigan, then the "Internal Fire Museum of Power" is worth a look, (information on google). Several buildings with steam and diesel engines from the very beginnings to more modern stuff. They usually have a couple fired up and running each day and the owner is an ex Isle of Man TT competitor. Also call in at the Wetherspoons pub in Caerphilly, which is called the "Malcolm Uphill" after the local TT rider who was the first rider to do a 100 mph lap on a production machine. Plenty of motorcycle related memorabilia and pictures, though some of the captions are incorrect. Worth a look if you are passing and there is also a statue of another resident nearby, Tommy Cooper.

Thanks 1675, that's definitely part of the area we want to explore.

Just booked the ferry from the UK to Spain for September. A friend and I are going to spend 2 weeks in northern Portugal and the Picos de Europa in Spain (went to the Picos in 2021 and the riding is awesome).
I'm also thinking of doing a couple of weeks of camping in Norway around July. Norway has incredibly scenery but is horrifically expensive so camping should keep the cost down a bit.

I'm all set for a trip down to the Austrian Alps later in the year...
Can't wait.

We missed Spain, Portugal, and Andorra when we lived in Wales due to a refinery protest and rationed petrol. Didn’t get another chance before we moved back to the Colonies. 😎
We did travel all over the Alps, and through the small Austrian mountain village where my wife’s grandmother was born. Some great scenery and fun roads out that way.
Enjoy your summer trips. 🏍️

Hi Deaks
All camp sites in Scandinavia have "stuggas". Huts which are like your garden shed with beds in. Some are basic, others have a shower and toilet. Well worth it after a day's wet riding and much cheaper than hotels.

My father and I took advantage of one of those in Lysebotn back in 2016 after a long wet day when the prospect of having to sleep in a tent (and then put very wet gear back on in the morning) was not an attractive one.
Unfortunately when the same happened in Finland the options were limited and we had to go with an expensive hotel, but at least it had a sauna!
I'll have a look at some places in the next month or so and see if I can do all stuggas or whether I take the tent as well.
