My mate and I are planning a big trip from the Netherlands to the Southern part of Spain, Cadiz to be precise. We wil have a six day stay over night period in Hotel Nordic in El Tartar, Andorra.
After Cadiz we drive to Portugal, follow more or less the Coastline onto Saintiago di Compostela in Spain. Then via Pamplona back to France and ending up in the Netherlands again.

Agree that's a cracking looking trip. Pamplona into France its worth checking out Hotel Roncesvalles on the N-135 although there are plenty of other places to stay along that route and if you've not been there before then Millau viaduct is also a sight to see (if its not in the clouds - been there twice and been lucky both times).
Coast road from Cadiz to Gibraltar used to be quite good as well if you get the chance

Chippy4467, that’s the plan. We stay 2 days in Cadiz to include a trip to Gibraltar.

When will you be in Portugal? That is my turf!
Happy to catch up and ride along for a day and show you some of the sights.

NAP, we’ll be in Portugal as of the 5th of October. Starting in Faro. It will be a challenging tour overall, since we have only 3 weeks.
Following are the planned parts in Portugal
Faro-Evora
Evora-Lissabon
Lissabon-Porto
Porto-Santiago di Compostela, Spain.
Al the rest is time-depending.

Bugger, as always with my life / work, I'll be out of the country!
Get yourself on the N2 when down south, coast road up from Lisbon to the silver coast, dart up and across to Serra da Estrela, and when you leave Porto, get on the N222 along the Douro river, a brilliant road.
Quickest way is the motorway however, they are all tolls and the ones up north are mainly electronic (and in the Algarve actually) so you will need a Via Verde transponder or get on-line and pay afterwards.
No problems sitting on 140kmh on the motorways, the Police are not interested in 20kmh over.
Have fun!

Txs NAP, motorways are anyway not on my routes. I will have a look at the 2 roads you suggested. I think the route from Faro to Evora is partly over the N2.
We will see.
