    Sciopta error

Went out this morning to ride to work on my 2019 XRT but was greeted by this error message. Bike would not start and the TFT remained lit even in the off position. Has anybody experienced this error and what was the fix?
    Thanks

'Sciopta' is the RTOS (real time operating system) used by the TFT dash fitted to Triumph bikes. It looks like yours has frozen, a bit like the Blue Screen of Death in Windows.

Some owners have found that cycling the power (i.e. disconnecting the battery, not just turning off the ignition) fixes the issue. You must remember to reset the date & time after re-connecting the battery to avoid getting other warnings.

Sometimes the problem has persisted and Triumph have replaced the TFT under warranty or as a good-will gesture if just out of warranty.

The reason you can't restart the bike until the TFT is back working again is because the ECU has to talk to the TFT in order to allow the engine to start and if the operating system has crashed there's no comms.

Thanks for the reply. I disconnected the battery for several hours and did manage to get the bike started. Of course it had a code stored stating “communication lost between ECU and instrument cluster”. Hopefully I never have to revisit this issue again but for some odd reason the fuel gauge took forever to reset to the correct level.

So now we have bike that can actually crash like Window$ computers.
    Just great!

What if this incredibly well developped OS crashed while riding?
