I used to be able to move it up and down freely while riding. Now I have to be stopped and use 2 hands and considerable force to get it to move. Anyone else having this issue? I have tried some lube in the tracks on the sides but it doesn’t seem to help.

Something like silicone spray? Lube might attract dirt that jambs the sliding mech even more.

Mine is the exact same way. Works well after I wash the bike and water gets in there but otherwise very hard to adjust with one hand.

yeah when wet was fine. Trying to operate it now the middle bar (handle) and runners on the side flex to the point where it feels like I will break it.

With 2 hands i can move it up bit by bit each side takes a fair bit of effort still..

Cant help but think they may have a water based lube in there that dries out and becomes glue.

Had the same symptom on a Honda 1000 CB-F (loaner) some years ago.
    Bad design/implementation.

Following a good wash this tends to happen. I use WD40 Silicone spray on each of the runners, move the screen up & down to spread the lube and it’s fine. Normal WD40 in the pannier key holes to keep the operation smooth too.

Mine was difficult when I got the bike (3000 miles old). Gave the runners at the side a spray of GT85 and it's been great ever since.
