Is there a reliable way to get the engine warning light off?

After every “off” the bike displays a check engine light. It stays on for ages…. Don’t really want to have to include a scan tool in my toolkit when out having some fun.
It seems that when I have finished for the day and fuel up the light goes away. It’s really a bit of a pain… I now just completely ignore the light which one day may bite me as it could be a real issue…
If anyone wants to know the Rally Explorer is pretty resilient to drops, after pushing it on hill climbs and rough tracks I have probably dropped the bike 20-30 times so the crash bars and pannier racks are pretty well tested… only issue really would be the clutch and brake levers if you didn’t fit solid bark busters, rubber stoppers that stop the boxes rattling on the pannier racks and the OEM fog lights mounts are bent so they point off in different directions now… lol

you're having better luck than I am.
The stock crashbars on my rally explorer are bent so far in on the right hand side they rub the fairings now.
and nobody is making aftermarket crash bars for it.

The SW motech bash plate looks ok too. I am constantly throwing rocks and mud up at the engine.
Ill wait till I actually bend my bars (if that happens) then look at something like their gear.
Not sure what you hit to bend the bars, assuming concrete, road or a chunk of rock. All my drips have been on dirt (bit of give in the ground)

no explorer models.
i asked all the usual aftermarket crashbar companies and nobody is making them for the explorers.

Are you saying that it is staying on after you shut the power off with the start/stop button?

Yeah.
When I come off the “check engine” comes on. Multiple shut downs and restarts does nothing to fix it.
Riding with everything “normal” doesn’t reset it like some youtube videos seem to suggest.
Opening the fuel cap when filling up on the way home seems to have fixed it last time. May be a coincidence or something with the fuel tank that caused the light that resets when the tank is vented…?
Would be nice if I knew for sure what “check engine” actually meant. Thats a bit of a throw away alert, not overly useful.
Next time I fall off and get the alert I will try open and close the fuel cap… see if that is actually tied to the error or if it was just coincidence.

Had a similar situation today. Tipped over in the parking lot, picked it up and check engine light and low oil pressure lights came on. After starting and running for a few seconds, then shutting off for a few minutes for a couple times, the low oil light went off, hurrah! No such luck on the check engine light, but cleared it by disconnecting negative terminal on battery, leaving it sit for an hour or so, then reconnecting and restarting. Now I have the beloved service spanner flashing, but I'll take it.

I also dropped mine, and it gave the same errors, I left the battery disconnected from one day to the next and even so the engine error continued, I put ODB2 on and erased the errors with TuneECU, it was soon resolved. In your case, after that the service key remained on, it is because you removed the battery and lost the date and time, just adjust the date and time and that will solve it.

The flashing spanner resolved after the second day, in the past a battery disconnect resulted in flashing spanner that required dealer reset even after date was updated. After software updates it appears to self clear after a power cycle or two.
