Accessories and Products / Shift assist from xrt fit an xrx
« Last post by Malcsmith on Today at 10:34:11 pm »
I'm thinking of fitting a quickshifter to my 2018 xrx gen3.
I have seen a shift assist from a 2018 xrt for sale on ebay. Does anyone know if it could be fitted to my 2018 xrx?

The official web site.
I found it on eBay.

Yes, it is possible to manoeuvre and turn the handlebars.
It is, for example, a requirement to get the bike out of the garage.
The mirrors touch "just a little".
As mentioned before, this is a provisional assembly that needs to be adapted (lower positioning for example, improvement of the shape to be more covering above the windshield, possible cut-out for the mirrors, etc.).
Unless Givi removes the wind problem.
Apparently Puig does, according to their documentation. The only thing we don't know is how tall the rider was during the test.
Around 130 or 140€ for the Powerbronze (because of the Brexit), I've no desire on buying the Givi to do a test and be disappointed. It's the same with the Puig.
On the other hand, I prefer a clear windscreen, not smoked, even light.

Hello,

Here are the pictures of the windshield extensions mounted.
Sorry, I didn't take the bike out. I'll take pictures outside if needed.
I bought them on AliEx :

I admit it, it's a bit of a mess behind ! :001:

The most important thing was to have the bindings. After that, it's easy to cut and shape a piece of polycarbonate.

If my English is not very good, please make a claim at deepl.com. Great translator!
As you know, I'm French. Nobody is perfect  :002:

Have a nice evening.
But actialy this is just to go straight, there is nonway you can turn the handlebar…..or even manouver when needed… :033: :033:

Excellent!!!  Thank you!

Below I have posted some pics of my new CalSci *Tiger 900* windshield temporarily installed onto my 1200 GT Explorer.  I had to drill some new holes in the shield to get it to fit.  This is just an initial experiment for now, more work to do.

As I had mentioned, unfortunately, as much as this large windshield would appear to offer a lot of wind protection, it offers very little.  If I was to ride with my eyes closed, I'd swear there was no windshield installed at all.  There is tremendous wind getting past the windshield at the mirror cut-outs at the bottom sides of the windshield and the wind comes right up into the front of the helmet.  If those cut-outs could be totally blocked, the wind issue would likely be solved, but the mirrors (and handlebar controls / brush guards) travel into those cut-out areas when making turns, the cut-outs need to be there.  As it is, the mirrors are hitting this windshield a tiny bit in those lower areas.

Also, I noticed yesterday that my small SW-Motech Ion tank bag is contributing to the current wind problem.  With the tank bag installed, the wind blast is very focused right at the helmet face shield.  However, if I ride with the tank bag removed, there is still a lot of wind at the face shield, but it is less focused, more dispersed, a little less loud.  The tank bag is apparently deflecting wind directly into the helmet face shield.

I'm thinking that using a tall windshield like this one pictured may be *worse* than using the shorter stock one, because the extra height is causing much more vacuum behind the windshield and thus sucking even more wind in past the mirror cut-outs, then getting directed into the helmet face shield.  Next time I go out, I will swap the stock shield back on and do a direct comparison.  UrsusPolaris, your concept of adding side extensions onto the shorter stock shield may be the best idea yet.  How are things going in terms of mirror clearance with the extensions?  How is this set-up performing at high speeds?

I was also thinking about maybe experimenting with adding a smaller universal type windshield or baffle onto the *handlebar* to block the air that is getting past the main shield mirror cut-outs.  After experiencing how the tank bag was effectively deflecting air into the helmet, I started thinking that something taller in that same location might help to deflect air *over* the helmet (or out to the lower sides).

More experimenting to do!  For now, here's a few pics.  :002:

My top screen extension sits 2" above the main screen and works really well, except that I am looking at the road through the gap!

Your pics have been super helpful, brother.  Thank you!  The Givi is definitely much better than the powerbronze.  Do they have a smoked version, or just clear?

Also I ran the PN you sent and I don't see it on their site.  Maybe we can't get them here in the US?
