Title: Do we all agree this is in time?
Post by: davidz0241 on September 12, 2019, 12:04:13 AM
Just as the title says. I've opened my tiger up again because it sounded like there was some thrashing going on at the head, so for my sanity I'm posting up some pictures to see that we all agree that this is in time. Let me know your thoughts.

Left hand cam sprocket looks a bit shiny and worn teeth but could just be the reflection  :084:

The camshafts appear properly timed relative to each other.  :028:
The photos don't show the crankshaft position though...

A locking pin is placed in the locating hole for these photos. Thanks for confirmation. They always seem just slightly a bit more or less but generally very close.

Make sure that you use the correct procedure for replacing the cam chain tensioner. The piston needs to be compressed and held with the locking spring when the tensioner is re-installed. Then turn the crankshaft back a quarter turn, and then ahead a quarter turn, and you should hear the tensioner release and set the proper chain tension.
