Yep still insured - needs to be for the fire & theft / damage element.
Whilst working I kept a commuter bike (DL650) going all year. Used it daily unless there was snow on the ground (and even then used sometimes) but now retired I don't have the need to and the amount of salt on the roads I just thought why bother?

Possibly my last ride of the year, started off at zero deg c but got up to a heady 3 deg C. (32F-37F)It was a pea souper for half the ride then clear sunny skies for the rest. This was a quick stop at "The Curragh" which is just 5,000 acres of common land not too far from me. Again, heated vest and inner gloves made this a really pleasant day out, can't say enough good stuff about heated gear for extending the riding season. We are lucky in Ireland as Winters are fairly mild, we don't often get snow.

I ride all year in just a T shirt under my textile jacket...
A lot of my mates have 3/4/5 layers on under theirs!
Been down to 3C and generally ok..
I have had many "naked" bikes with zero wind protection and I rode those in the same clothing..
Very occasionally I get cold toes but thats about it!

I know I am the odd one out here as my mates often comment "I am not normal" :-)

I am your exact opposite Speedy and need all the help I can get to keep me from getting a chill.

I carry my own, not insubstantial insulation. 

I used to ride all year round (at least one a month in the winter months), but with limited garage space, I figured it better that I keep the quad with the plow on hand rather than the Tiger.  So for the last 2 or 3 years, it has gone in storage for half of December through early March....which is next week!

Hopefully out on the bike in the next 2 weeks or so.
